Job Description

We are looking for you, an Expert for Optical Clear Resin (OCR) in BA UX (m/f/diverse), to support our Business Area at the location Babenhausen.

Your tasks will focus on the following activities:

  • Establishing and extending an expert field for Optical Clear Resin (OCR) within BA UX.
  • Developing technology from a chemical perspective, being involved in the product component manufacturing strategy and setup for optical bonding and OCR technologies.
  • Defining appropriate OCR materials and processes for BA UX products from a chemical and optical point of view.
  • Conducting chemical characterization of OCR materials within component specifications.
  • Introducing and specifying new OCR materials that meet the requirements of our products.
  • Taking responsibility for the definition of optical bonding and OCR applications in projects.
  • Supporting chemistry-relevant qualification failure analysis and serving as the technical counterpart for suppliers and customers on related topics.
  • Driving specific technology scouting, focusing on optical bonding and OCR processes.
  • Supporting the creation of roadmaps and solutions benchmarking from your expert area perspective.
  • Collaborating with other departments (e.g., operations, experts, R&D) in regard to evaluating and approving OCR applications.
  • Building up a network with suppliers, equipment manufacturers, technology institutes, and universities.

Qualifications

  • Academic degree in engineering, chemistry, or similar qualification
  • Deep understanding of optical clear resin (OCR) technologies, including the chemical and physical properties such as viscosity, adhesion, and optical clarity, as well as the corresponding measurement and evaluation methods

Beneficial for this job would be:

  • Basic understanding of the applied chemical processes in optical bonding, particularly in products for automotive and consumer electronics (e.g., display solutions, head-up displays)
  • Advanced knowledge in chemistry with a focus on resin and adhesive technologies and their interaction with substrates like glass, plastic, and other materials
  • Advanced knowledge of different optical bonding techniques (e.g., direct bonding, liquid optically clear adhesives (LOCA), etc.) is desirable
  • Systematic analysis of potential resins, adhesives, and their combinations (tools like problem-solving, DOE, DFSS, etc.) advantageous
  • Proficiency in working with MS Office, as well as creating presentations, standards, and training materials
  • Fluent English language skills written and spoken, with German language skills desirable
  • Ability to build and maintain a network, with experience in working within cross-functional and international teams
  • Hands-on mentality and experience in a challenging work environment, particularly in situations requiring quick escalation and resolution
