Fixed-term for 3.75 years | Part-time with 65% | Salary according to TV-L E13 | Institute of Physiology I (Neurophysiology)

We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.

To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise in the Institute of Physiology I (Neurophysiology). Here, we investigate primary cortico-thalamic network states in the rodent brain in vivo using multimodal imaging, combining 2- and 3-photon microscopy, fiber-optic-based calcium recordings, and fMRI to relate locally regulated and dysregulated cortical activity to brain-wide network dynamics. The Subproject B07 of the Collaborative Research Center (SFB/Transregio)isan initiative focused on the modulation of coupled neuronal and glial network attractors via metabolic intervention. The project pursues a bold, systems-level approach to decipher how metabolic states (e.g., fasting) influence the dynamic relationship between neurons and astrocytes and their subsequent effects on psychiatric phenotypes – ideally with you on board!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project-based investigation of neuronal-glial network interactions in mice, with a focus on the influence of metabolic interventions on network stability
  • Performance of fMRI experiments with concurrent fiber-optic-based calcium recordings of neural activity in mice
  • Performance of 3-photon functional neuro-glial imaging in mice
  • Performance of animal behavioral experiments
  • Active participation in the interdisciplinary SFB network and collaboration across projects addressing animal behavior, neuron-glia interactions, and brain networks

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in neuroscience, biology, biomedicine, or a related field
  • Proficiency in English
  • Excellent communication skills

WE OFFER:

  • Salary according to TV-L E13, extra annual payment, and company pension plan (VBL)
  • 30 days of vacation per year, plus two additional days off on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
  • A wide range of training and professional development opportunities
  • A respectful and appreciative work environment within a diverse team
  • Support and advisory services for health and work-life balance
  • Additional benefits such as sports programs, job ticket, jobrad, company events, cafeteria, and emergency childcare
