During the internship, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of lean management methods, implement process improvements and identify optimization potential in our production and logistics planning. The MPS (Mercedes-Benz Production System) department in Planning is the leading source of expertise for lean management in the Group and, as an internal consulting organization, advises managers and experts in production planning at all Mercedes-Benz plants in Germany and abroad from the Sindelfingen site.

Our team focuses on the planning of processes in the press shop, body shell construction, assembly, logistics and painting. In close cooperation with the planning departments for new vehicles, we look for optimization possibilities in order to design future-oriented and sustainable processes.

Our department focuses on topics such as supporting model series projects at several locations, factory control, layout evaluation/creation and the definition of lean key figures, including their anchoring in model series projects. We also carry out benchmarking with a focus on production systems and test digital value streams.

You will face these challenges:

• Supporting the optimization of processes with the help of lean methods
• Identifying optimization potential in production and logistics planning for new series and plants
• Supporting the preparation and implementation of interdisciplinary workshops
• Conceptualization, creation and coordination of decision documents for management
• Planning, implementation and documentation of subtasks within various projects
• Implementation of data-driven process improvements
• Learning and applying lean management optimization methods, such as value stream mapping to improve production and planning processes

• Degree in engineering, business administration or a comparable course of study
• Proficient in written and spoken German and English
• Confident handling of MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
• Analytical skills and quick comprehension; communication and teamwork skills as well as the ability to work independently and autonomously, even under deadline pressure; previous knowledge of Lean is an advantage
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convincingly convey ideas and suggestions for improvement
• Affinity for digital tools and data analysis desirable
