The research projects aims to derive recommendations for actions regarding the roll out of hydrogen infrastructures in Germany. A focus will be on hydrogen supply and infrastructures for refineries. Within your master thesis you will build a code-based model to simulate refinery specific feedstock demands, product outputs and infrastructure needs for a climate neutral transformation until 2045.
What you will do
- Research and extraction of suitable data sets on German refinery sites
- Development of a suitable methodology to derive refinery specific infrastructure needs in the transformation until 2045
- Implementation of the methodology (preferably in Python)
- Identification of refinery capacities, locations and types as well as other data points
- Evaluation and analysis of the results and data
- Discussion of identified gaps
What you bring to the table
- Field of study: physics/engineering/computer science or comparable
- Knowledge of programming in Python
- Interest in technical and economic issues
- Experience in GIS analysis is an advantage
- Knowledge on refining technology in the petrochemical sector is a plus
- Fluent in German or English (at least C1 level)
- Independent, structured and goal-oriented way of working
