Internship in the Exterior Purchasing department from September 2024

The Mercedes-Benz Cars Procurement & Supplier Quality (MP) department is responsible for an annual purchasing volume in the double-digit billion range as well as the quality of purchased parts for all vehicles. In partnership with around 1,500 suppliers in Germany and abroad, the necessary materials are provided for the Mercedes-Benz Cars/Vans production plants worldwide.

Locations in Germany, South Africa, China, India, Mexico and Argentina ensure proximity to production.

The MP/X Center introduces itself: MP/X is responsible for the module purchasing of exterior/chassis parts, for the project management of the van series and for the purchased parts quality of exterior/chassis parts. In module purchasing, we carry out benchmark analyses of the supplier market as part of tenders, conduct contract negotiations and are responsible for global supplier selection and thus for the development of worldwide sourcing strategies.

Project management controls the awarding process for the van series, coordinates all series-related decisions for vans and drives localization worldwide. In purchased parts quality, we ensure the supplier quality of exterior/chassis parts over the entire vehicle life cycle. Global maturity management and the application of various quality methods for the continuous improvement process are among our core competencies.
As part of the internship, you will support the Purchasing Door Modules, Closing Systems and Seals team

You will have these tasks:

• Preparation and participation in supplier meetings/negotiations
• Cross-functional, international collaboration with internal and external contacts
• Collaboration in the operational purchasing business (preparation in Excel/PowerPoint, preparation and follow-up of negotiations)
• Participation in the preparation, evaluation and negotiation of new contracts and resourcing scopes
• Preparation of inquiry documents and offer compilations
• Creation of parts CVs
• Creation and comparison of various business cases based on forecast quantities/costs
• Tracking of change management process, coordination of quantities with development and series management and communication to suppliers
• Participation in the organization of workshops, offer presentations and supplier meetings
• Evaluation and independent analysis of purchasing key figures

• Degree in economics, business administration or a comparable course of study
• Proficient in written and spoken German and English
• Confident handling of MS Office
• Practical experience with the creation of presentation documents is an advantage
• Commitment, reliability and ability to work in a team
• Analytical mindset and strategic way of working
• Communication and presentation skills
• Enthusiasm for new topics
