Compulsory internship in the area of efficiency of the complete vehicle VAN from February 2025

The Overall Vehicle Efficiency team is responsible for forecasting, analyzing and achieving targets for overall vehicle efficiency and range as well as determining driving resistance and the roll-out of all vans in the development area of the Vans business unit. This is done in close coordination with project, component, system and application managers.
With the advent of electromobility, the complexity of requirements and the resulting technical challenges are increasing, particularly in the field of energy efficiency. In order to live up to our claim of developing the most desirable vans for our specific customer groups in this environment, we are constantly improving our methods for handling complexity in requirements management. A core competence in this context is a profound understanding of consumption mechanisms, which are directly influenced by the respective use cases of our customers, i.e. their usage behavior. One of the main pillars of our current development activities is therefore the analysis of data available in the vehicle, so-called load collectives, and the derivation of technical measures to optimize energy efficiency. This is precisely where the position advertised here comes in, and your tasks will focus on the following areas:

These are some of the challenges you will face:

• Evaluating the data quality and informative value of load collectives with a focus on overall vehicle efficiency analyses
• Methodical support in improving the significance of efficiency parameters determined from load collectives
• Definition and development of efficiency parameters based on driving and usage behavior recorded from customer data
• Identification of load collectives required in the future
• Analysis of the results and preparation for expert committees as well as development of suitable visualization techniques (e.g. dashboards)
• Methodological and operational support in the area of overall vehicle energy efficiency

• Degree in data science, technical cybernetics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, automotive engineering or a comparable course of study
• High analytical competence
• Knowledge of the relationships between the energy consumption of motor vehicles
• Knowledge of statistics and the evaluation of large amounts of data
• Confident handling of Matlab and Python as well as Microsoft Excel
• Confident written and spoken German and English skills
• Strong ability to work in a team, autonomous and independent way of working
