Compulsory internship in the field of product data management: standardization, material documentation and master data digitization from September 2024

In Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development (RD), we are working on the cars of the future.
The tendering department is Product Management, which plays an essential central role in the company by managing all the relevant information that makes up a vehicle. This department ensures that all areas - from design and engineering to production and sales - are up to date and can work together seamlessly. This is crucial to ensure the high quality and innovative strength that is expected from Mercedes-Benz.
Our team has a wide range of responsibilities. On the one hand, we are responsible for the end-to-end digitization of vehicle-related master data and ensure its data quality in the development systems. We are looking for interns in the field of end-to-end digitization of vehicle-related master data and ensuring their data quality. After appropriate training, you will be able to work on projects and take on your own tasks.

You will take on important tasks in the area of management and control of company standards. You will coach standards supervisors to ensure that they enter the work standards into the systems in a uniform manner and with the correct content. You will also support the management of materials, coatings and surfaces that are provided in the CAD system for selection for development. Your tasks will include checking these materials and integrating them into the CAD systems/supplier packages. You will also act as a competent contact person for developers responsible for components and prepare technical content for management meetings and other presentations in a way that is appropriate for the target group. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge technical environment and gain valuable insight into the processes and requirements of a leading automotive manufacturer.

• Ongoing studies in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, industrial engineering, business psychology, materials science, mechanical engineering or comparable), ideally with a focus on materials, product data management or technical documentation.
• Interest in and understanding of materials, coatings and surfaces and their application in vehicle development.
• Very good written and spoken German and English skills to understand and create technical documents and communicate effectively.
• Basic knowledge of CAD systems (e.g. Siemens NX, CATIA) and product data management software is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and accurately, especially when reviewing and entering technical data.
  
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team to interact effectively with standards supervisors, developers and other technical departments.
• Confident in using MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, to create and edit technical reports and presentations.
  
• Initial experience in dealing with technical norms and standards is desirable.
