The Advanced Fixed Income team of Allianz Global Investors is offering 3 to 6 months internships starting as soon as possible. We are looking for forward-thinking and results-oriented final year Master students (f/m/d). This position will be based in our Frankfurt office.

What you do

During the internship, you will actively support the Advanced Fixed Income team and its portfolio managers in their daily investment tasks. You will leverage your technical and data analysis skills to analyse financial markets. In addition to ad hoc tasks on fixed income instruments such as bonds or derivatives, your specific tasks relate to

• Research assistance and reviewing academic literature on secular trends of interest rates
• Assist in the data value chain (gather new data, clean and structure data, create descriptive statistics, analyse data, use data as model inputs)
• Leverage knowledge of econometric models and machine learning methodologies to help the team in the systematic application of these
• Contribute to the development & optimization of investment processes

What you bring

• Master student in a quantitative and/or analytical discipline (e.g., Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, …)
• Interest in understanding/exploring the financial markets, particularly the relationship between fixed income, macro-economics, and secular developments
• Solid understanding of statistics as well as macro- and econometrical models
• Basic understanding of Machine Learning tools (e.g. random forest, gradient-boosted trees, support vector machine, …) is useful
• Good knowledge and practical experience in using Python, R, Matlab or equivalent for data analysis (we use Python)
• Basic familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, or Databricks is useful but not necessary
• Some experience with SQL would be helpful as well
• Very good English and German communication skills
• You are organized, self-motivated and able to work independently with a high reliability
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment as a team player
