Internship in the field of digitization of toolmaking processes from October 2024

In the toolmaking department of BodyTEC at the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant, forming tools are developed and manufactured for the production of body parts such as side panels, doors, hoods, fenders, etc. The large tools used are usually divided into a drawing operation, which forms a blank, and subsequent operations, which finish-cut the component and, if necessary, reshape, bend or calibrate it.

During tool introduction, the large tools are assembled and the tools are optimized in terms of dimensional accuracy and surfaces until they are ready for series production.

These are some of the challenges you will face:

• Working in the tool introduction team for sidewall tools in toolmaking at the Sindelfingen site
• Attaching RFID chips to all load handling devices and electrical equipment
• Recording all load handling attachments via RFID readers and documenting the current test status in a specific app
• Maintaining and updating our applications/PowerApps (monitoring system performance, implementing updates and ensuring user-friendliness)
• Working with existing database structures and systems (maintaining data integrity, performing backups and optimizing database queries)
• Communicating with various departments to understand requirements and develop technical solutions
• Supporting the operations engineers in the processing of individual series projects (recording and visualizing the project status, scheduling for optimizations, etc.)

• Degree in mechanical engineering, production and manufacturing technology, materials engineering, materials science or a comparable course of study
• Proficient in written and spoken German and English
• Confident handling of MS Office, CAD experience desirable
• Analytical and conceptual way of thinking, ability to work in a team, structured way of working, communication skills
