Internship in Risk Steering & Analytics from November 2024

The Risk Steering & Analytics department in the Finance & Risk MB Bank board division is the Center of Risk Competence, which uses innovative methods, models and technologies to efficiently manage risks and automate processes. This enables us to inspire our internal and external customers and create transparency both for the company and for banking supervision.

The Bank Risk & ABS team at Mercedes-Benz Bank is responsible for identifying, assessing and managing market price and liquidity risks, operational risks and other types of risk. This also includes analysis and reporting tasks relating to asset-backed securities (ABS) already issued or future transactions on the capital markets. Furthermore, strategic asset liability management (ALM) including funding planning is also part of the team's tasks.

During the internship, you will be fully integrated into the specialist and project tasks from day one and will quickly be given responsibility for your own interesting areas of work.

Depending on the team/project, your tasks may include a variety of content:

• Collaboration in the team of experts in the new and further development of quantitative procedures for risk assessment, including the practical use of established software solutions

• Participation in the preparation of data and portfolio analyses using mathematical-statistical methods with access to large and heterogeneous data volumes of Mercedes-Benz Bank (Data Science / Data Analytics / Big Data)

• Collaboration in the monthly closing processes to fulfill regulatory and accounting requirements as well as reporting in the ABS environment

• Conception and creation of various risk reporting dashboards with Microsoft Power BI

• Creation of German and English-language decision-making and presentation documents using MS PowerPoint for internal and external recipients

• Participation in the valuation of interest rate derivatives as well as their reporting and settlement in exchange with external banks (collateral management)

• Participation in our regular internal introductory series and specialist courses on the risk models used and the programming languages used

• Degree in economics, mathematics, natural sciences, business informatics or a comparable course of study
• Business fluent in written and spoken German and English (at least C1 in each case)
• Confident handling of MS Office and basic knowledge of a statistical programming language (e.g. SQL, R, VBA or Python)
• Agile mindset, commitment and reliability
• Analytical mindset and structured way of working
• Team and communication skills
