Working student / intern / thesis - Simulation for NVH evaluation of complete vehicles

______

Students  —  Thesis; Internship; Limited

Chemnitz

This challenge awaits you:

For our team in Stollberg, we are looking for a student to work on a challenging internship, bachelor's or master's thesis in the field of multi-body simulation (MBS) of electric vehicles. You will work directly in our team on a forward-looking task with plenty of scope for your ideas. The technological focus is on the further development of existing models, the subsequent simulation of relevant load cases for electric vehicles and the development of tools to optimize the results obtained on the basis of modern development methods such as Design of Experiment (DoE) and mathematical optimization.
From a variety of upcoming topics (including the simulation of critical driving maneuvers, force determination at the wheel contact points for particle emissions, load determination for chassis components, ...), the specific task can be derived jointly in the interview according to previous knowledge.

Your Tasks:

  • You will acquire extensive knowledge of NVH assessment of vibrations and acoustics of electric powertrains and vehicles.
  • You will learn the methods of multi-body simulation and how to use the ESI Simulation X software.
  • You will work on the evaluation of powertrain, chassis and track excitations in connection with the physical principles.
  • You will carry out simulations of complete vehicle models and evaluate the results on the basis of sensitivity analyses.
  • You will develop an interface to mathematical optimization tools; ideally based on Python applications.
  • You will simulate optimization calculations with the creation of a decision matrix for relevant vehicle parameters.

Necessary Skills:

  • Ongoing studies with a focus on automotive, information or electrical engineering, mechanics/mechatronics or a comparable course of study
  • Knowledge in the field of overall vehicle physics with a focus on vibration behavior/machine dynamics
  • Motivation and ability to work independently in an agile development environment
  • Strong communication skills, open-mindedness and ability to work in a team
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Python or Matlab/Simulink is an advantage

You won’t just be working anywhere as a student at IAV. You’ll be right in the middle of it all. Real projects. Exciting future tasks. Completely integrated and side-by-side with IAV experts. Lots of responsibility and at the same time lots of freedom, combining university and work. The result is the best prospects for your professional development. And attractive compensation in accordance with our company wage agreements.
Diversity and equal opportunity are important to us. What matters to us is the individual, with his or her character and strengths.
