PhD Student - Immunology of Endometriosis (f/m/d)
Jetzt bewerbenStellenbeschreibung
The PhD student, who has a scientific background in immunology, will be involved in our ENDO-RELIEF research project on endometriosis (learn more) Endometriosis is a potentially chronic gynecological disease that affects up to 10% of women of childbearing age, causing severe pain and infertility. There is currently no cure for endometriosis. From an immunological point of view, endometriosis is poorly understood and there are no immunotherapeutic treatment options. It is known that both NK cells and T cells contribute to the dysregulation of the immune system in endometriosis. The reduced function of NK cells and the dysregulated activation of T cells lead to an impaired immune balance that promotes the spread of endometrial cells outside the uterus. This project will investigate the immunological mechanisms underlying the development and progression of endometriosis and potential immunotherapeutic targets.
Your tasks:
- Isolation and analysis of immune cells and soluble immunoregulatory components and potential immunotherapeutic targets from blood, sera, peritoneal lavage and endometriotic lesions using spectral flow cytometry, multiplex ELISA, RNA sequencing and high-dimensional immunofluorescence histochemistry
- Perform cell culture and cell-based assays, cytotoxicity, proliferation and viability analysis
- Characterize and compare immune phenotypes and functions of endometriosis patients and healthy controls using bioinformatics tools
- Analyze experimental data and interpret results for scientific reporting Write and present scientific findings clearly and effectively

- Diploma or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, life sciences or a related discipline
- Hands-on experience in immune/cellular biology
- Solid background in immunology is desirable
- Strong interest in immunology and immunotherapy Excellent organization and communication skills
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
