Master Thesis »Distillation of methanol from alternative sources«

As part of the Carbon2Chem project, methods for the material use of waste gases from steelworks are being investigated in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. At Fraunhofer UMSICHT, we are researching a methanol synthesis from CO2 and are looking for support as part of a master's thesis!

What you will do

• Development of a simulation model for methanol distillation in Aspen Plus
• Evaluation of the influence of by-products
• Concept development for variable raw methanol compositions
• Verification of the simulation results in a pilot plant rectification

What you bring to the table

• Studies in the field of in process engineering, chemical engineering or a similar field
• Experience with Aspen Plus
• Ideally initial knowledge of Python
• Confident handling of glassware in the laboratory
• Very good knowledge of German or English
