Intern - Modeling and simulation of virtual test systems
______
Students — Internship; Thesis

This challenge awaits you:
Modern electrified drives, new vehicle functions and numerous legal requirements pose growing challenges for the development of contemporary vehicles and energy management systems. These components must be further refined in terms of range, efficiency, emissions and driving behavior. In view of this increasing complexity and the trend towards moving development steps forward, virtual development is gaining in importance. Increasingly, function development, validation tests and application are being carried out in virtual test environments such as hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test benches or completely with software-in-the-loop (SIL). This methodology not only improves the creation of vehicle functions, but also plays a crucial role in the optimization of energy management systems to ensure efficient battery usage, reduced consumption and improved overall performance.
Your Tasks:
- You will create models for vehicle and energy management components or ECU network systems
- You simulate ECU functions for the operation of the system under test
- You put overall models into operation on HIL systems (at the customer and at IAV) or SIL systems
- You support the implementation of software in the development process from requirements to coding and testing
Necessary Skills:
- You are studying electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, control engineering, mechatronics, computer science, physics or a comparable field of study.
- Your knowledge of Matlab / Simulink, vehicle electrics / electronics or energy management is very good.
- Your previous knowledge of development with XIL systems (Synopsis Silver, dSpace, etc.) is essential.
Desired Skills:
- You have experience in modeling physical systems and their control as well as a systemic overview of drive control units.
- You are familiar with the preparation and processing of measurement data and the parameterization of simulation models.
- You have basic knowledge of Python and control engineering.
- You work independently and think in a goal-oriented manner.
- You have a high degree of flexibility, social skills, commitment, motivation and a sense of responsibility.
You won’t just be working anywhere as a student at IAV. You’ll be right in the middle of it all. Real projects. Exciting future tasks. Completely integrated and side-by-side with IAV experts. Lots of responsibility and at the same time lots of freedom, combining university and work. The result is the best prospects for your professional development. And attractive compensation in accordance with our company wage agreements.
