Intern (m/f/d) - Development of Runner Engineering
Division Hydro | Location: Heidenheim | Starting January 2026 | Duration of 6 months
Your Responsibilities
- You describe and compare relevant manufacturing methods for radial runners and develop a selection matrix with criteria such as quality, cost, lead time, and risk. The matrix serves as a decision-making tool for the bid phase of a project.
- You maintain and optimize the mechanical data sheet for radial runners and ensure consistent data for quotation and engineering purposes, including database maintenance and cross-departmental collaboration.
- The collection and updating of 3D models of turbine blades will be part of your responsibilities, and you will ensure clear rules for data storage and labeling.
- You analyze various check sheets (formulas, macros, data flows), correct errors in Visual Basic code, and increase robustness and user-friendliness (error handling, input validation, performance).
- For selected Pelton bucket designs, you extract parameterized design variables from the 3D model (e.g., angles, thicknesses, radii), document them in a standardized manner, and store them in a central database so that they are available for analysis, comparison, and reuse.
- Through your work, you contribute to current topics that support the energy transition.
Your Profile
- You are an enrolled student of mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable engineering program and are looking for a mandatory internship.
- You have very good knowledge of CAD systems and a strong understanding of design and construction principles.
- In addition, you possess very good MS Office skills and are familiar with VBA programming.
- You enjoy active, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Good English skills, as well as an independent working style and strong teamwork abilities, complete your profile.
- A structured and goal-oriented working style are what distinguish you.
