Summer Semester 2025 - fixed-term for 3-6 Months
WebAssembly (Wasm) has emerged as a powerful and portable technology for executing cross-language bytecode on the web. This thesis will explore the suitability of a popular open-source Wasm engine for use in the IIoT environment, with a particular focus on its extensibility.
YOUR TASKS:
- Familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of WebAssembly
- Develop an architectural model of a popular open-source Wasm engine
- Identify potential extension points to enhance the robustness of the Wasm engine
- Design appropriate extension mechanisms
- Analyze and discuss your results and document them in detail
YOUR PROFILE:
- You are studying (Technical) Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a comparable field
- Strong knowledge in at least one programming language (C, Go, Rust)
- Interest in compilers, virtual machines, software engineering, and system software
- Basic knowledge of software architecture
- A self-driven working style and analytical thinking complete your profile
