What you will do
Use MATLAB and Python to simulate signal processing and wireless link performance
Analyze and characterize point-to-multipoint architectures for FTTR. Perform simulations on various functional split points in the Wi-Fi protocol using the MATLAB toolbox
Simulate the Fiber to the Room (FTTR) optical channel with VPI photonics software and the Wi-Fi channel using Matlab
Provide the documentation of simulation results, contribute to publications and reports
What you bring to the table
Full-time student at a German university preferably in the field of electrical engineering, computer engineering, communications engineering or physics with good to very good grades
Good understanding of Wi-Fi communication system and protocols
Proficiency in MATLAB and Python, with a focus on Wi-Fi related toolboxes
Familiar with PHY and MAC layers of passive optical networks (PON)
Desirable is interest in simulating fiber optics communication with VPI photonics software
Proactivity and interest in scientific work
Good communication skills (German/English) and team spirit

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.
The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
