Dow is offering great career opportunities in a global and international environment. The department that will welcome you is the site infrastructure supplying energy, technical gases, and quality water to the consumers on site, collect and discharge wastewater, running grids and pipe racks as well as a large variety of different facilities to provide all the required services.
Project description
At four sites in the Halle-Leipzig area, Dow develops plastics and specialty chemicals - for example to be used in intelligent packaging, hygiene products or materials for the construction industry. Various production plants fabricate plastic pellet products that, as a raw material, are shipped via trucks to numerous downstream customers.
Based on the global Operations Clean Sweep standard, Dow in central Germany is certified according to its plastics pollution prevention. Caused by technological and logistics related matters there is a potential of plastics ending up in the site wastewater sewer networks which requires protection and /or removal from there to prevent environmental pollution.
The aim of this project is to evaluate plastics potentially ending up in the sewers on a qualitative and quantitative basis and derive improvement opportunities to retain them before leaving the sewers into the outfall.
The following aspects should be included in the project work:
- description of the dynamics especially considering the hydraulics and related emission situation, boundaries and gaps associated with plastics transportation on site
- understand possible gaps within the pathways from plastics production into the logistics cycle chain
- evaluation of state of art regarding plastics pollution prevention methods (company internal and market research)
- evaluation of actual and upcoming regulatory aspects
- identification of improvement opportunities to enable:
- prevention / reduction of plastics ending up in the sewers
- barriers of final retention of plastics before being discharged into the sewer’s outfall

- You have a good working knowledge of German and English
