Master Thesis - Foundation models in Chemistry (all genders)
The Applied Mathematics group, Bayer AG, is looking for a master student (all genders) with experience in mathematical modeling, data science, programming and chemistry for our Leverkusen site. After a successful application process, you will become part of a team of mathematicians, scientists and engineers. This position is part of a multinational team with the goal of exploring novel ways of training and using foundation models in chemistry.
YOUR TASKS AND LEARNING AREAS
- Support data collection, extraction and harmonization of information from various internal and external sources
- Development of new foundation models in the fields of chemistry and pharmacology
- Building a valuable network of contacts in the research & development community at Bayer
- Preparation of publications, presentations and documentation of your work
WHO ARE YOU
- For this position, you have to be enrolled as a master student in computer science, mathematics, a natural science program (chemistry, chemical engineering, physics) or a comparable field
- Experience in data analysis and modeling, hands-on experience with deep learning is an advantage
- Knowledge of a programming language such as python, hands-on experience with a Deep Learning framework e.g. pytorch, tensorflow, jax
- Some knowledge in chemistry and ideally the application of Deep Learning to chemistry and molecules is an advantage
- You were exposed to git and Linux before
- Flexibility and ability to work in a structured and independent manner
- Enjoy analyzing complex interrelationships and challenging questions
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German language is a plus
