Internship / Master thesis on optical metasurface design & applications (f/m/x)
Jetzt bewerbenStellenbeschreibung
Metasurfaces play an important role in the development of future optical systems. The design and manufacturing of these advanced surfaces represent critical steps in the innovation process, as their design and characterization is essential for ensuring optimal performance. Depending on the specific application, the required level of accuracy can vary significantly, with different critical factors influencing the outcomes.
We are actively exploring a variety of metasurface applications that are tailored to the needs of our internal business units and enable new applications.
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive investigation of potential applications. This will involve defining the problem, performing simulations, analyzing feasibility, and comparing our solutions with alternative technologies. Should time permit, you will also oversee the manufacturing and testing of initial prototypes.
We invite you to contribute your expertise to this innovative project, where your efforts will play a crucial role in advancing our metasurface applications and enhancing our technological capabilities.
We invite you to join us in this exciting endeavor, where your contributions will play a vital role in supporting ZEISS field of metasurface technology.
Your role
Development and optimization of current design tools
Integration of optimization techniques in the design process flow
Simulation and design of test metasurfaces for a given application
Quantitative simulation of the tolerance budget on given application
Development of algorithm and methods to support specific metasurface design for applications
Comparison of the different design methods/techniques (metric and merit function definition)
Documentation of the algorithms developed and results
Your profile
A background in Electromagnetism (Interferometry, holography, scattering, photonics,…) and/or Mathematics (optimization, statistics, inverse problem)
Ideally a bachelor's degree in one of the above subjects and experience in optical metrology is a plus
Applied knowledge in Python
As a student, you will work on an equal footing with your colleagues, you will gain deep insights into a company that creates products for the world of tomorrow, and you will create ideal conditions for your later career. You will be responsible and have freedom for investigation new ideas and techniques within the metrology module of the project.
