About You and this Role

Dow Silicones is seeking a highly motivated, innovative and customer-focused individual to fill an open position as Production Engineer, to be located in Wiesbaden, Germany!

Dow Production Engineers serve as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products.

As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the performance of your assigned unit. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate a strong sense of accountability and courageous leadership as they drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance both efficiency and safety protocols.

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring customer satisfaction by optimizing unit performance and challenging the status quo. Your expertise in financial acumen will play a crucial role in maximizing profitability while maintaining high standards of quality.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills and technical expertise to earn the respect and trust of the operations team.
• Enhance and effectively apply knowledge of plant operations and technology by analyzing historical data, consulting with technical experts, and leveraging resources such as the Tech Center or SMEs.
• Ensure the effective utilization of Most Effective Technology (MET) and leverage process automation to optimize plant performance, continually challenging and escalating MET application and assumptions to pursue better solutions.
• Partner with experts to conduct advanced troubleshooting and improve operating discipline, meticulously diagnosing and documenting root causes of asset utilization losses.
• Maintain a strong field presence to reinforce the importance of specific procedure steps and precautions, ensuring understanding and adherence among the team.
• Conduct daily reviews of the logbook and alarm history to gain insights into plant operations, remaining actively engaged with daily activities.
• Maintain, own, and review daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and trends to ensure optimum performance, while also running small projects aimed at enhancing 5S, productivity, and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in process or mechanical engineering, or packaging technology.
• Fresh graduate or up to two years of relevant working experience.
• Fluency in English and working proficiency in German.

Preferred skills

• Experience in an industrial environment, such as internships or working student roles.
• Theoretical understanding of automation processes.
• Basic knowledge in SAP and MS Office.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership and show proactive engagement.
• Positive outlook and strong communication skills.
