This challenge awaits you:

In the automotive industry, the topics of "Highly Automated Driving" (HAF), "Autonomous Driving" (AF) and "Advanced Driver Assistance Systems" (ADAS) are becoming increasingly important with regard to the car of the future. IAV is researching these topics and is building its own car prototypes and highly automated shuttles. In this context, we are looking for support in the development of innovative interaction concepts (passenger - vehicle; control centre - passenger, etc.) as part of an internship/thesis.
We are looking for students who are interested in HMI, human factors and the automated driving context and who are highly motivated to drive these topics forward with us. As part of the advertised internship/thesis, the student will gain a comprehensive insight into the future-oriented topics of vehicle development at IAV. In addition to deepening human factors knowledge, software development skills in Java and experience with script and markup languages can also be deepened. In addition, the technical understanding of the mobility of tomorrow can be expanded by participating in the development of concepts in connection with possible software solutions for optimised human-machine interaction. We look forward to developing a customised topic from our pool of current topics in a personal dialogue with you.

Your Tasks:

  • Conception of interaction concepts and assistance with implementation
  • Prototypical implementation using agile development methods
  • Evaluation of initial concepts and prototypes
  • Assessment and careful documentation of the created solution

Necessary Skills:

  • Ongoing studies in the field of psychology, sensory and cognitive psychology or computer science (e.g. applied, technical or media design computer science)
  • Good language skills in German and English
  • Interest in human factors, HMI design/implementation necessary, as well as an affinity for the automobile desirable
  • Preferably knowledge of at least one programming language Python, HTML, JavaScript, Java, C++, C#
  • Quick grasp of complex systems, analytical thinking and ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Ability to work in a team as well as commitment and initiative

You won’t just be working anywhere as a student at IAV. You’ll be right in the middle of it all. Real projects. Exciting future tasks. Completely integrated and side-by-side with IAV experts. Lots of responsibility and at the same time lots of freedom, combining university and work. The result is the best prospects for your professional development. And attractive compensation in accordance with our company wage agreements.
Diversity and equal opportunity are important to us. What matters to us is the individual, with his or her character and strengths.
