Working Student (m/w/d) – WebGL development Hearing Research

8-16 h/week | limited (12 Months) | Experimental Audiology

The cochlea, our hearing organ, is a spiral-shaped organ with large variability. An individualized assessment of its shape is essential for the planning of neuroprothetic surgery (cochlear implantation). Our research group has developed advanced methods to characterize and visualize the shape of the cochlea and provide landmarks and parameters used for preoperative planning (). The aim of this project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), is to develop a simple, web-based browser application that enables clinical experts and researcher to easily access and apply our advanced algorithms.

Your tasks:

• Implementation of existing algorithms for automated kinematic shape fiting using Unity engine
• Prototype deployment as browser-interface using WebGL ()
• GUI design and usability optimization
• Three-dimensional visualization of anatomical structures and results

Your profile:

• Bsc. in Computer Science, Computer Science: Games Engineering, or comparable degree programs
• Experience with Unity Engine (C#)
• Experience with linear algebra (matrix/vector calculus)
• Experience with image-based analysis (CT data, DICOM,...) is of advantage
• Experience with WebGL is of advantage
