The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, Germany is the largest solar research institute in Europe. Would you like to play an active role in shaping the energy transition and gain practical experience during your studies? With us, you will work in a young, open team on a forward-looking topic in the field of renewable energies. Our "Sustainable Synthesis Products" department at Fraunhofer ISE deals with the power-to-liquids concept, i.e. the conversion of "green" hydrogen from renewable electricity into sustainable energy carriers, chemicals and fuels. In addition to efficient transportation and storage properties, liquid energy carriers also offer the opportunity to provide an alternative to fossil fuels in sectors that rely on the use of carbon-based fuels. Our group is investigating innovative process concepts based on the raw materials CO2 and hydrogen in laboratory and pilot plants for the energy-efficient and economical production of sustainable synthesis products.

For our group "Synthesis Products: Separation and Production Technologies" we are looking for a student assistant for April 2024 (earlier start also possible) with the opportunity to write a bachelor, master or diploma thesis on the topic "Experimental investigation of reaction and separation processes in the power to liquids context".

What you will do

• You will work in a young team of students and engineers.
• You will familiarize yourself with the test benches and measuring equipment used.
• You will carry out measurements independently.
• You will evaluate the measurement data from your experiments and present the results graphically.
• You will interpret and present your results in our group and optionally summarize them in your final thesis.

What you bring to the table

• You are enrolled in an engineering or science degree program.
• You have an affinity for laboratory work or manual activities.
• It is important to you to proactively contribute to your team and to achieve common goals in interdisciplinary cooperation.
• You work independently and with commitment.
• You are experienced in using Microsoft Office.
• You can express yourself confidently in German or English.
