Huawei’s German Research Center is responsible for advanced technical research, architecture evolution design and strategic technical planning.

Optical Communication and Application Technology Laboratory in Jena focuses on optical telecommunication use cases (optical subsystems for switches, optical wireless), automotive (AR-HUD, headlamp design, displays), illumination, industrial lasers, optical metrology, optical coating design and other optical subsystems. The department engages in local research and collaborates with academic and industrial partners from the European ecosystem.

To support our research activities, we are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated / Intern Optical Applications to support us to develop new concepts in the field of optical technologies, optical systems and architectures.

Your mission 

• Track the top-level publications and patents about flat optics applications, 3D optical printing, optical imaging and sensing

• Design of optical components by means of ray tracers and RCWA solvers
• Output the insight report based on the latest progress of flat optics applications

Your areas of expertise

• Currently enrolled as a Bachelor or Master Student in Optics, Physics, Computer Science, or Mathematics

• Ability and experience to independently search the literature in IEEE Xplore and EspaceNet
• Highly interested in innovative solutions and technologies in flat optics for imaging and sensing
• Proactive and self-motivating character as well as the willingness to take initiatives and to be responsible for your project
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
