Are you interested in sustainability and how we document our company's change process in our internal and external reporting? Then join us in further developing our ESG reporting! Climate protection and human rights are the sustainability topics that are omnipresent in the media. However, we at Mercedes-Benz are also working on a range of other sustainability topics, such as road safety and data responsibility. We make the developments on this path transparent in our ESG reporting - you are welcome to accompany us on this journey as an intern!

The ESG Reporting team

The ESG Reporting department supports the sustainable business strategy of Mercedes-Benz: it is responsible for putting all current and future regulations on ESG reporting (e.g. CSRD, ESRS, SASB, TCFD,...) into practice and developing the sustainability statement (fully integrated into the annual report for the first time in 2024). This requires not only sustainability expertise and knowledge of current frameworks, but also complex project management.

We analyze developments in ESG frameworks and standards - both legally binding and voluntary - at national, regional (Europe, USA, China) and global level. The current focus is on the introduction of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the introduction of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Your areas of responsibility:

In the ESG Reporting team, you will help shape the concept of sustainability reporting in accordance with the requirements of the CSRD/ESRS and support its implementation. You will work with us to develop the most important sustainability medium until its publication in spring 2025: the Mercedes-Benz Group Sustainability Statement. We require a technical understanding of the framework as well as complex project management and editorial expertise. A good eye for design and layout also helps us. Specifically, you will face the following challenges:

• Helping to design the content of Reporting 2024 and ensuring that the data to be collected complies with legal requirements
• Collaboration in highly complex project management
• Assisting with the coordination of audit procedures by the auditor
• Editorial design of reporting and strategy contributions in coordination with various specialist departments
• Monitoring and analyzing relevant frameworks and legal bases (in particular CSRD and ESRS)
• Assisting in the interpretation of highly complex reporting requirements, performing GAP analyses for Mercedes-Benz Group AG
• Preparation of derivations for coordination with internal and external stakeholders
• Preparation of presentations on current results, issues and decision-making needs

• A degree in law, business administration or economics with a focus on sustainability management or similar
• Confident written and spoken German and English skills
• Confident handling of MS Office
• Ability to quickly familiarize yourself with different digital platforms (project management, databases)
• Commitment and ability to work in a team
• Analytical mindset and strategic way of working
• Strong communication skills
• Reliability and curiosity
• Enthusiasm for sustainability and reporting topics

Duration of the internship: 6 months
