Internship in the field of lightweight construction and weight management from May 2025

Mercedes-Benz Group AG is one of the most successful automotive companies in the world. With Mercedes-Benz AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest suppliers of premium and luxury cars and vans.

You will work in the Weight Management and Lightweight Design department, which coordinates all development activities for the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class and electric vehicles from the concept booklet to the end of lifecycle.
You will be working in a group of 3 interns.

With increasing demands on the environmental compatibility of vehicles, the importance of lightweight construction in passenger car development is also steadily increasing. The team is involved in the creation and derivation of weight targets for the new S-/E-/C-/GLC-Class
Vehicles and electric vehicles for the coming years up to 2030 as well as weight controlling of current prototypes. The implementation and identification of lightweight construction strategies and forward-looking controlling of weight trends play a central role here.

These are some of the challenges you will face:

• Evaluation and processing of vehicle weighing results
• Tracking and reviewing weight-relevant lightweight construction measures
• Assisting with the preparation and implementation of weight audits and competition analysis
• During work shadowing, you will experience our production, the museum, a real crash, wind tunnel, climate tunnel and vehicle testing on the test track

• Degree in automotive engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or a comparable course of study
• Proficient in written and spoken German and English
• Confident handling of MS Office
• Commitment and ability to work in a team
• Analytical mindset and strategic way of working
• Conscientiousness and confident appearance
• Enthusiasm for automotive engineering is an advantage
