We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied internship in the area of mechanical characterization of Li-ion battery electrodes. At BMW BCCC (Battery Cell Compentence Centre), we work on the future of battery cells. Our international team brings together exceptional expertise in all areas of battery cell development. Accurate mechanical characterization of electrodes is critical for Li-ion battery development. Given the porous nature and thinness of a single electrode layer, it is essential to develop a reliable and precise method for mechanical characterization.

What awaits you?

• In your new role you will improve the mechanical characterization process for Li-ion battery electrodes based on a Nanoindenter setup. 
• You will perform mechanical experiments on different electrodes based on the process you advanced.
• Furthermore you will analyze and interpret the data gathered from your experiments.
• In addition you will work closely with teams from electrode development and simulation.

What should you bring along? 

• Studies of civil, material, mechanical engineering, physics, or comparable qualification.
• Very good knowledge in continuum mechanics and material mechanics, ideally knowledge of granular material.
• Experience in applying experimental methods and enjoyment of working in the laboratory. 
• Independent and responsible work approach.
• Team and communication skills.
• Fluent in English and good German language skills.
