Master Thesis »Performance of catalysts in an ohmic reactor«
Jetzt bewerbenStellenbeschreibung
As one of 76 institutes and research facilities of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the leading organization for applied research in Europe, we show how to not only master crises, but grow from them. Pushing boundaries. Always trying something new. Not just thinking, but thinking ahead. We turn research into the future.
We want an earth that is worth living on. With our applied research on Circular Economy, Carbon Management, Green Hydrogen and Local Energy Systems, we make concrete contributions to achieving the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Our employees conduct research in the areas of energy, environment, safety, health, communication and mobility.
The Chemical Energy Storage department is working on tasks relating to catalyst development. Cobalt-carbon catalysts have already been synthesized for thermocatalytic ammonia decomposition and tested in an indirectly (conventionally) heated reactor. As part of a master's thesis, these catalysts are now also to be tested in a catalyst plate directly heated by an ohmic resistance of the catalysts and the performance is to be compared with that in a conventional reactor.
What you will do
- Literature research on the topic of catalytic ammonia decomposition and alternative heating methods
- Synthesis, characterization and above all testing of heterogeneous catalysts
- Evaluation of conversion and selectivity data
- Autonomous work in the laboratory and especially in the pilot plant
- Interpretation and presentation of results
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, engineering, technical chemistry or chemical engineering
- Autonomous and conscientious scientific way of working
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ideally experience in dealing with larger test facilities
- Ideally experience in the field of heterogeneous catalysis
What you can expect
As part of a dynamic team, you actively drive sustainable solutions for a resource-efficient future
Opportunity to combine your knowledge from your studies with practical experience at the interface between business and science and to integrate your own ideas
New Work, diversity and cooperative interaction are important components of our strategic orientation
Flexible working hours - we know that your studies come first
Flexible work locations that fit your studies - mobile work and on-site work are combined as needed
Intense support for the preparation of your final thesis
Health and mindfulness programs for good balance
