Compulsory internship in the Technology & Business Development Powertrain department on the topic of numerical simulations (FEM) from October 2024

At the Mercedes-Benz plant in Untertürkheim, we build the heart of our cars: highly efficient and future-oriented drive systems such as batteries and engines for all Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. We are shaping the automobile generations of the future. By this we mean innovative products of the highest quality and efficient development processes. In close coordination with the development, planning and production departments, we are working together on the electrified powertrain in order to secure Mercedes-Benz's technological leadership in the future.

The Process Development team is primarily responsible for the introduction of innovative production processes for future powertrain components and is the innovation driver for the electric powertrain in the course of electromobility.

In order to support our team in the implementation, generation and realization of innovative, energy-efficient technologies from the first prototype to series production, we are looking for co-creators of the technology(ies) of tomorrow.

Your tasks in detail:

• Carrying out literature research on work-relevant topics
• Thermomechanical 3D FEM analysis for various joining processes
• Evaluation and interpretation of simulation results
• Validation of the models on the basis of experiments

• Degree program in computational science, simulation technology, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanics, or a comparable degree program
• Knowledge of FEM is required
• Theoretical and practical experience with welding and bonding processes is desirable
• Knowledge of LS-DYNA is desirable
• Confident handling of MS Office
• Confident written and spoken German and English skills
• Analytical and conceptual way of thinking
• Ability to work in a team and structured way of working
• Communication skills and commitment
