Working student position in the field of haptic measurement technology and control elements pre-development from October 2024

The Body Electronics pre-development team develops, among other things, new control elements for intuitive operability in the car and a high-quality overall impression in the vehicle.

The latest body electronics, sensor, lighting and feedback technologies and their integration are investigated and developed for series production. In addition to technology scouting and conceptual validation of new technologies, measurements are carried out to evaluate haptic properties. Furthermore, we are actively working on the further development of haptic systems, their range of functions and quality, in the context of which we are building and further developing our own tools. Partners are from the classic industrial as well as the start-up sector.

This is the environment in which the working student activity takes place, whereby the focus of the activity is on haptic evaluation and optimization, which is why knowledge of Matlab is helpful. An affinity for computer hardware and software, their interfaces, command line and CANoE is helpful. A creative approach to the topics and tools is required.

These are some of the challenges you will face:

• Familiarization with the IDM measurement principle
• Optimization of data transfer between program parts
• Optimization of the GUI of the measuring robot with regard to measurement preparation and analysis tools
• Measurement tasks
• Familiarization with the world of tools for haptic effect development
• Haptic design
• Research, procurement, commissioning of systems and components
• Collaboration in other subject areas
• Mechanical and soldering work

• Degree course in mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar - preferably with design relevance
• Experience with Matlab with Simulink
• Experience with measurement and sensor technology desirable
• Experience with Commandline, Linux and networked systems also desirable
• Knowledge of UX prototyping may be an advantage (Screencontent: Sketch, Flinto , Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop , Blender; AR/VR: Unity 3D, Blender
• Confident handling of MS Office

• Basic knowledge of electronics an advantage
