Thesis "Carbon Nano Devices"
Jetzt bewerbenStellenbeschreibung
In recent years, the electronics landscape has witnessed a transformative shift driven by emerging trends such as the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0. Todays electronic devices are expected to excel not only in computing and communication but also in handling sensor and security functions seamlessly. This requires exploration of advanced materials and their technological implementation in existing platforms. Due to their proven properties, low-dimensional nanomaterials offer the ideal material basis for new, innovative applications for electronic and sensor components.
The Carbon Nano Device group researches, develops and tests procedures, processes, technologies and application for integration of low-dimensional nanomaterials in a micro/ nanotechnological manufacturing line for wafers up to 200 mm in diameter. A test platform for functional field-effect transistor arrays is available here. These components reflect promising building blocks for a manyfold of applications, ranging from AI-linked environmental or biosensor technology to hardware-integrated security primitives, as well as breakthroughs in quantum computing or quantum sensor technology.
We propose a topic tailored to student qualification project or theses, focusing on advancements in the following areas:
- Technology and methodological developments for CNT-FET arrays (CNT dispersion & assembly, device passivation & functionalization...)
- Data analysis combined with machine learning or AI-methods
- Device analysis with advanced characterization methods (Raman spectroscopy, AFM, electrical FET characterization...)
What you will do
The objective of your research work is to carry out systematic studies, primarily carried out independently, focusing on intensive characterization utilizing various methods such as electrical FET characterization, atomic force microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, surface profilometry, and absorption spectroscopy. These methods will be employed to evaluate your findings scientifically. Additionally, you will present your results and project progress during routine working groups seminars, honing presentation skills and scientific methodologies. Yours tasks include:
- Literature research
- Design of Experiment of scientific studies
- Methodological development with respect to research topic
- Characterization, evaluation and scientific interpretation of results
