Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated Ph.D. Student (m/f/d) focusing on Advanced Wireless Communication to support Wireless Power Transfer for Electric Vehicles to join our research team at our engineering center in Wegberg near Aachen, Germany. This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of sustainable transportation and energy transfer technologies.
Please note that this job offer is related to a funded project currently under application. There may be changes depending on the result of the evaluation of the project application.
- Conduct in-depth research on wireless communication systems and its protocol stacks for wireless power transfer applications for electric vehicles
- Design, simulate, and analyze innovative architecture and protocols for wireless power transfer for electric vehicles
- Collaborate with other experts to study integration into automotive software environments
- Develop and implement algorithms for the efficient combination of wireless communication and power transfer
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of researchers and industry partners as part of a regionally-funded project
- Participate in academic conferences and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in wireless communication and power transfer technologies

Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or a closely related field
- Strong background in wireless communication systems, communication protocols and networks, computer science, electric engineering and electromagnetic theory
- Knowledge of wireless power transfer technologies and their applications
- Familiarity with electric vehicle systems, power electronics, and automotive software requirements
- Proficiency in programming languages for rapid prototyping (can include C, C++, MATLAB, Python or similar)
- Experience with simulation tools for wireless communication systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
- Research experience in wireless communication or related fields
- Previous work or projects related to wireless power transfer preferred
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary collaborative research environment
- pursue a Ph.D. in a relevant field
- owning a German driver's license as the workplace will be located in Wegberg near Aachen
