This is a hybrid role with an in-office expectation from Monday to Thursday.
The internship lasts 6 months full time.
With Wayfair Europe's focus on profit and healthy expansion comes the need for strong financial partnership, planning, and support across the business. The Strategic Commercial Finance (SCF) team works collaboratively with various teams across the European commercial organization as well as the executive leadership, to drive fiscal accountability, provide visibility into financial performance against plans, and shape our forecast based on most current trends and business needs. Our work provides the business with critical financial insights that directly impact the future direction of Wayfair Europe. We enjoy tackling challenging problems and translating quantitative analyses into broader, strategic business implications.
This is an excellent opportunity for recent university graduates or current students looking to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and data-driven environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Translate high-level business problems into more specific questions that can be answered through data-driven analysis.
- Partner with the Accounting team to execute the monthly financial closing process.
- Serve as a strategic finance partner for the European Commercial teams to assess the impact of initiatives and their cost implications.
- Collaborate with Finance Leadership on a quarterly basis to conduct a financial health check and forecast operational spend for the next 12-24 months.
- Work with the Profitability Management and Strategic Operations Finance teams to identify opportunities for cost savings and margin optimization.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Gain expertise in the European P&L structure at Wayfair.
What You’ll Need:
- Currently enrolled in a university program or a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field with a heavy quantitative focus.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, particularly in financial data analysis.
- Experience working with large datasets and resourcefulness in obtaining data when it is not readily available.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to effectively convey insights from analyses to senior leadership.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Passion for solving complex business problems.
