For our team of researchers and engineers, we seek a student to support our research and experiments for optical sensing, with a focus on smart instruments & optical coherence tomography (OCT) for medical applications and medical robotics.
Your Role

Develop cutting-edge optical smart instruments and medical imaging devices, utilizing multiple optical sensing modalities with a focus on medical robotics applications
Test concepts, core functionalities, and analyze data generated by optical sensing-based hardware and software
Help with the development of state-of-the-art research-grade prototypes in lab settings
Research existing solutions in scientific and patent literature and tailor solutions to our needs
Conduct and evaluate experiments based on free-space and fiber-based optical systems

Your Profile
A bachelor’s degree and enrolled in a master’s program in mechanical, electrical or (bio)medical engineering, optics & photonics, computer science, physics, or similar
Good understanding of the fundamentals of optics and ideally OCT
Programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, C/C++, or CUDA
Ideally hands-on experience with signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms and optical systems
Research experience in the development and integration of data acquisition electronics are a plus
Excellent organization, problem-solving & communication skills (English and/or German)
Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary teams
