About the Role
Are you looking for an internship that provides hands-on experience in research publishing and the chance to make connections at one of the largest publishers of education and research content?
The Springer Nature Opening Doors internship, Bespoke Content Creation Team, is a paid opportunity in Heidelberg, Germany to gain experience in research and science news publishing in our journals, books or magazines.
Many perspectives and lived experiences remain underrepresented in the publishing industry. This underrepresentation has historically affected a wide range of groups, including Black people, Indigenous people, and people of colour, first‑generation university students, people from socio‑economically disadvantaged backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, people from underrepresented social castes, religious minorities and people with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions.
We are looking for talented candidates from all backgrounds, with excellent skills in a range of fields, and we are committed to creating an inclusive internship, with a cohort that reflects a broad range of voices and experiences.
The successful applicant will spend up to six months within the Bespoke Content Creation Team, part of the Research Publishing division of Springer Nature. If selected for this internship, you will be:
Working in a graphic design role, using design software and systems to create marketing materials and related visual assets, in digital and print formats.
Supporting with development of design concepts, approaches, and related guidance.
Working closely with design and marketing colleagues globally, attending regular team and project meetings.
Role Responsibilities:
Developing skills in graphic design for marketing; creative thinking and problem solving; design software/systems/workflows; collaborative global working; communication.
Hands-on experience at one of the largest academic publishing groups and the opportunity to learn from experienced publishing professionals
Support from a buddy from one of Springer Nature’s employee networks that connect people who share a common identity.

The opportunity to work on projects related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the publishing industry.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Recent graduates with a relevant degree are required.
Available to start in June 2026 for an internship of up to six months
Good creative skills and interest in graphic design
Confident IT user. Experience in design software beneficial but not essential.
Ability to multi-task and work to deadline.
Good team worker.
Good attention to detail
