The "Submarine and Core Systems" (SCS) working group in the Photonic Networks and Systems department is looking for support in the field of optical communications engineering, THz transmission technology and signal processing. In a series of research projects, innovative communication systems for future 6G networks are being developed and prototypically realised in close cooperation with industry. The focus of the work is on simulation, construction, testing, experimental validation and demonstration of transmission systems with capacities up to the petabit-per-second. What you will do
Depending on your expertise and interests, you will take on tasks in the following areas:
Support in laboratory setups for THz wireless communication and performance of measurements
Analysis and evaluation of measurement results
Participation in the preparation of scientific publications
Development of neural networks for use in digital signal processing (DSP)
Further development and optimisation of existing DSP algorithms
Support in research and application development in the field of THz wireless communication and networks
What you bring to the table
Full-time student in electrical engineering, physics, communications engineering or comparable
Knowledge and practical experience in MATLAB and Python desired
Knowledge of or interest in digital signal processing and wireless communication systems
Prior knowledge in the field of machine learning, especially with libraries such as AutoKeras, is an advantage
Independent working style, willingness to learn and strong interest in the subject area

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.
The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
