About you and this role
We are looking for an ambitious master's student (m/f) to support our Packaging & Specialty Plastics business (P&SP) through an internship project at our locations in Tarragona, Spain and/or Wiesbaden, Germany.
Selection Process:
Introductory Call with HR: Eligible candidates will have an introductory call with an HR member to evaluate eligibility and motivation.
Virtual Event GRIT (Gearing Revolutionary Innovation Talent Symposium 2024) - Case Study: Selected candidates will participate in a virtual event where they will work in groups on a case study to showcase their individual skills.
Dow Award - Internship Position: Top candidates will get selected for an internship position.
P&SP Overview:

The GRIT Symposium – taking place on 26th of November– is more than a typical virtual talent event – it’s an opportunity for STEM master’s students to join our Industrial Innovation Campus (I2C) Program within the Research & Development department of Dow’s Packaging and Specialty Plastics (PS&P) business in Tarragona, Spain and/or Wiesbaden, Germany.
Responsibilities
You will work on complex R&D projects related to polyethylene, polyolefin elastomers functional ethylene copolymers, recycled materials and/or compounded products, with guidance from experienced supervisors and support from our organization.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a master's degree or equivalent in engineering (chemical, materials and mechanical preferred), chemistry, or material science.
- Good working knowledge of English. (Knowledge of Spanish, German, Polish or French is a plus.)
- Critical thinking, troubleshooting, and organizational skills are desired.
- Passion for materials and polymer science, along with innovative ideas.
- Enthusiastic, respectful of project deadlines, and a good team player.
Preferred Skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Laboratory experience including physical testing and/or extrusion is advantageous.
Additional notes
- The internship is for 6-9 months, starting in first half of 2025 (exact timing to be discussed). Based on performance during this internship a conversion into a permanent role in Dow will be explored taking into account your preferences & Dow’s needs
