In cooperation with the Chair of Laser Technology at RWTH LLT, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, Europe's leading center for contract research and development in the field of laser technology, is offering the opportunity to write a thesis in the "Joining and Cutting" department. The miniaturization of laser welding seams offers a wide range of applications in various industries, such as electromobility (fuel cells and batteries), medical technology, electrical engineering as well as the jewelry, precious metals and watchmaking industries. Your thesis will contribute to innovation and the creation of unique selling points in these areas.
What you will do
- You investigate the influence of small focus diameters 30 µm on the geometry and quality of laser weld seams
- Development and clarification of open questions
- Your skills and interests will be taken into account in the detailed task definition
What you bring to the table
- You are studying mechanical engineering or a comparable course of study and are interested in innovative manufacturing processes using lasers.
- You are motivated and enjoy exciting work with a strong practical focus.
