The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Intern /Working Student Power System and Grid-tied Inverter Control (m/f/d)
Your mission
- As a power system grid-tied inverter control intern/working student, you will be involved in the control and simulation of grid-tied inverter for the PV and battery storage applications, including PSCAD, Simulink or Dig SILENT platform.
- Support developing the models for control and diagnostic algorithms using MBD tools under the guidance of your mentor (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink/State flow)
- Support the technical insight for grid-tied inverter control, especially the grid-forming control.
- Support the technical cooperation related to power system and grid-tied inverter control.
- Work with engineering teams from headquarters to test, adjust and verify the performance of grid-tied inverter under different grid conditions.
Your areas of expertise
- You are enrolled at a University, majoring in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, or another related field
- Have sufficient knowledge to understand the operation of power system or grid-tied inverter control and experience to handle high power inverter tests
- You have good knowledge of the programming languages C/C++ for embedded systems and have experience in working with scripting languages such as Python
- Basic knowledge in one or more power systems simulation platforms: PSCAD, Matlab/Simulink or Plecs, and in code generation.
- Ideally, you bring experience in control system design for power electronic inverters
- Structured way of working, initiative, creativity, ability to work in a team, communication skills, motivation as well as enthusiasm and quality orientation
- Fluent in written and spoken English (working language).
