What is this programme about?

Mechanical Engineering at THB is now offered entirely in English (starting winter semester 2025/26) — making it ideal for both local and international students. 
It deepens your mechanical-engineering knowledge and trains you to design, analyse and manage complex technical systems. The curriculum emphasises a holistic, system-wide view: mechanical, electronic and material aspects are taught as interconnected components of working machines.

 Structure & Key Facts

• Degree: Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) 

• Standard duration: 3 semesters (1.5 years) full-time; part-time or dual options are also available. 

• Language of instruction: English. 

• Specialisations/Focus Areas: Drive Systems, Mechatronics, Materials & Structural Mechanics. 

• Flexibility: You can add specialised technical electives or interdisciplinary project work to tailor the degree to your interests (e.g. dynamics, simulation, sustainability, reliability). 

What will you learn?

You will gain advanced skills to design and analyse mechanical systems — from core components to complex integrated assemblies. Key topics include:

• Powertrain and drive systems, mechatronic design, materials and structural mechanics.

• System-level thinking: interaction between mechanical, electronic and material subsystems; energy flow; robustness and reliability; dynamic response; fault-tolerant design and control. 

• Simulation, experimental analysis, and research-oriented project work to solve real-world engineering problems. 

• Preparation for applied research or industrial development and R&D — including scientific methods, design optimisation, and sustainable engineering.
